eBRC e-Business Research Center

This is the website of the “original eBRC”, established for limited life (2001-2005) as part of eTampere (see www.etampere.fi), a pilot of eEurope. Many of the original functions and much of the content is either discontinued or temporarily unavailable. The “new EBRC” is set to launch her new identity on March 23, 2009, as part of the V2C Forum 2009 event (see www.v2c.info for details).

During 2001-2005, eBRC created a portfolio of over 70 research and development projects representing a total volume of 17 MEUR. A key action stream geared around “knowledge investing” or the venture-to-capital (“V2C”) paradigm, marked by the annual V2C Forum events, since 2001, two seminal PhD theses (Rasila 2004, Ala-Mutka 2005), as well as the launch of Finnish Co-Entrepreneurs SKY Assn – the world’s first “knowledge investor” association – and CONNECT Finland, in 2005.

In 2008, “Global Venture Lab” was acknowledged and funded as a University Alliance Finland Research Cluster of Excellence and “the knowledge investments towards the GVL” were granted the Entrepreneurial Act of the Year in Higher Education Award by Chambers of Commerce in Finland. However, while the GVL concept – to be launched on March 23, 2009 – is largely a product of the work that started already in 2001, a true tribute to the “original eBRC” is duly in place!
