How to get to Tampere
Tampere is located at a distance of 180 kilometres northwest from Helsinki.
By air
There are several daily flights to Helsinki from major cities in Europe. There are frequent daily flights between Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (HEL) and Tampere-Pirkkala Airport (TMP), the flight time being 30 minutes. There are also daily flights from Stockholm and Copenhagen to Tampere. From Tampere airport the best way to reach the city centre is to take an Airport taxi, which will take travellers to all city hotels in Tampere (not to Hotel Hermica). The fare is € 10. A normal taxi costs about € 20-30.
By train
There are excellent train connections on comfortable trains between Helsinki and Tampere city centres. Trains depart every hour (except for night time). The travelling time is approximately 2 hours, except for the Pendolino train which travels in 1 1/2 hours.
By bus
Travelling by an express bus is an easy way to get from the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport or the Helsinki city centre to Tampere. The bus departs every 1-2 hours, and the travelling time is 2 hours 30 minutes.
By sea
There are direct ferry connections from Sweden and Germany to Helsinki. From Sweden there are ferry connections also to Turku.
